Washington State has a new measure on the ballot for the November 4 election. According to the article from the Outdoor Wire, “I-591 was written to prevent the same kind of outrage that followed Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, in which hundreds of firearms were seized from their owners without warrant or probable cause.” Also according to the article, “a new Rasmussen Poll showing that 84 percent of Americans believe someone needs to be convicted of a crime before their property can be seized.”
Supporters of I-591 believe it will help put a roadblock in the path towards public disarmament and help protect citizen’s right to keep and bear arms even in a time of emergency. The new poll was a surprise that the bill had such overwhelming support and is expected to pass come November.
