In the article by CNN Money called Gun Sales Spike in June “Background checks for gun sales spiked 11% in June compared to last year, making it the busiest June ever, according to the FBI’s background check data.” While the background checks are required for in-store purchases they are not required for sales at gun shows or between individuals.
The article also believes that the spike in gun sales for this year is due to more women shooters and first-time gun owners. Although shootings can play a role in gun sales, they do not believe that has been the case last month. “In fact, May 2015 was also a record month for background checks year-over-year.”
