The city of Boston is planning to relaunch its gun buyback program. The program, which collected 400 guns last year, offers people who turn in their handguns a $200 Visa Gift card.
According to the article by the Grand View Outdoors, “Officials say the gun buyback program never officially ended, but the number of weapons turned in slowed down because publicity…ceased.” Only one handgun has been turned in so far this year. “Police Commissioner William Evans said getting just one gun off the streets could mean one less homicide.”
“As non-fatal shootings are up 43 percent, the department is once again making it known that you can get that gift card,” according to the article on Townhall.com. The article also brings up the point that the gift card may not cover the cost that was spent on the handgun. Read both stories in full below.
